First sight of Plot 25. Not daunted at all!

May 2003
I got help digging out the ash trees – Antonio from ?Plot 23? took out the one from the bottom left of the picture. After a winter of strimming, I found the remnants of some beds.

In the first year, I grew courgettes, runner beans, potatoes,tomatoes, onions and Jerusalem artichokes. All in two small beds.

Overwhelmed with produce: the parsnips (centre right) and squash (centre left) were both very successful; also onions, which had already been harvested when this picture was taken.

The black plastic isn’t pretty but it makes an appreciable difference to the weeds. Apart from the plastic covered area at the bottom, the beds are nearly all completed now.
